Beverly Mack

 

Dr. Beverly Mack is a Professor of African Studies at the University of Kansas. In addition to Educating Muslim Women:  The West African Legacy of Nana Asma’u, she has published Muslim Women Sing: Hausa Popular Song (Indiana University Press, 2004); One Woman’s Jihad: Nana Asma’u Scholar and Scribe (Indiana University Press, 2000) and The Collected Works of Nana Asma’u, 1793-1864 (Michigan State University press, 1997) (both with Jean Boyd); and Hausa Women in the Twentieth Century (University of Wisconsin Press, 1991) (with Catherine Coles) as well as numerous articles on Muslim women scholars and poets.
